Sick Six Days From His First Birthday

So, Its Friday 20/07, 6 days from baby Jude’s first birthday, and we ended up in out of hours on wednesday night with him, poor wee critter has a throat infection and is fighting to sleep. His antibiotics course however is finished the next day so it should’ve worked by then! I’m excited for his birthday, he loves being around people and especially other babys, so there’ll be no shortage of baby for him! My brother just asked me what to get him, and I told him he doesn’t need anything. He asked what he wanted, which is hard to decipher. Even if he could talk, I’m sure the only things on his mind at any point are food and Elmo, and he’s got an Elmo, and is obviously regularily fed. I say obviously because he isn’t exactly a skinny baby…

So I thought I would just put up a little blog to let you know whats going on, I’ve got a couple of projects on the go at the present minute which are a bit hush hush, so more on that to follow. Anyone got any requests for myself you know where to get me!

More to follow leading up to Judes birthday, tell your friends!

Holiday in Bundoran, a Picture Blog.

Hey, picture blog here from our holiday in bundoran, as promised. Featured are Laurence McDaid, Kathryn Jordan, Mummysaurus, Jude, Rosie, and of course myself.

July, so far.

So, another update from big poppa blog, and I hope at time of reading this finds you well. It has been nearly a year since my most liked, viewed, commented on and loved update, that’s right, nearly a whole year since Jude was born. He turns 1 on the 26/07, and we’re having a wee party, and I’m really looking forward to it. Its a very strange feeling to consider the length of time Jude’s been alive, because although time flies in and I can remember him being born more vividly than any other memory in my life, it feels like he’s always been there. I can’t imagine life without Jude, even though for nearly 23 years I had just that. Enough of my parental ramblings for now.

At the start of this month Mummysaurus, Jude, Kat, Laurence, Rosie and myself of course all went to Bundoran to the family caravan. It was great, we had 4 days of no TV, limited internet access, just enjoying our time down there. We went to a bananas type place, which was great fun for the kids, and me of course. We went to the amusements, where I threw up after going on the waltzer, which was fun for everyone, except me of course. I’d say the most fun we had was at Waterworld though. Kevin Costner wasn’t there, but it was great. On our way there, Jude was very tired, but as soon as he got in the water he literally had the most sustained fun he’s ever had. I won’t go into the details, because I could talk about it for ages, I had a blast, and there were big mad slides. After we got out, Jude was obviously putting fun in front of sleep for a long time as he fell asleep sitting up as we dressed him. Had a blast. I’ll make sure to put up a photo blog tomorrow or Monday of our holiday for anyone interested.

I’ve got while back into my music of late, I’ve even been recording an album with (Laurence McDaid), I’ve put a wee demo track up on my soundcloud about Jude turning one as well so check the playlist for a link to listen. Another album thats recently finished production is that of Mieka Pauley, she’s a singer/songwriter who I happened upon listening to Watsky, and the song in question is of course in the playlist. I seriously urge you to have a wee listen to the album right here and if you’re feeling frisky, you might even buy it! I am not affiliated in any way to this woman, but I really enjoy her music. Give it a go!

So, expect a lil picture blog tomorrow, and then another in a couple of weeks for Jude’s 1st birthday of course. We all love you for reading, so tell your friends and we can love them too.

Playlist;

Nate McCartney – Anything will do, Larry
Watsky and Mieka Pauley – Ghost Party
DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince – Summertime

And as always, you can buy the book.

Picture Blog; Jude, dissected. Also, a question…

Before todays baby blog booms brightly beyond your bright screen, I pose to you a story with a question, regarding life and intelligence, and hope you can help me comprehend the meaning behind it.

I’d like to thing I’m a smart man. Not exactly booksmart, or even incredibly streetsmart, but I feel I have enough smarts to get by without looking too stupid, a lot of the times. However, a number of things have questioned my intelligence. Little conversations that make me feel that, however smart I may be, I may not be able to comprehend another persons thought process entirely. One such conversation happened only last week, at “Bridies” in Newbuildings. You see, I had walked there from a friends house to get a bag of chips. I had previously been there and witnessed a number of strange things, for instance once a woman behind the counter put beans into the microwave, then when the microwave “dinged”, she jumped and said “What was that?” This past week however, I had a very strange conversation, which continues to bewilder me. It went as follows;

Bridies Employee – “Is that everything?”
Me – “Actually, can I have a bubblegum vitazade as well?” I said, Clearly and loud enough to be understood.
Bridies Employee – “A what?”
Me – “Bubblegum Vitazade, please.”
Bridies Employee – “I’m not sure if we sell bubblegum.”
Me – “The blue one.”

She proceeded to give me a Bubblegum/”Blue” Vitazade, and acted as if I was the crazy one. Am I? I understand that differenciating drinks by colour isn’t uncommon, however I would argue that knowing that blue means bubblegum isn’t uncommon either. I would like to hear from you, the general public, as to who was in the right.

Baby blog.

I’m sorry about that, I had to get it off my chest. In other news, I feel more and more every week that Jude has become, as I feared, not just a carbon copy of myself. He is clearly a composite of Mummysaurus and me. I would like to propose a case for each of us, and explain exactly what I mean;

Case for: Nate (AKA Daddy, @Nateomc, “Handsome” and “Rugged” also accepted)

1.The first, and possibly most convincing argument in my favour, is that Jude smiles. He loves to smile. Here is a picture of Jude smiling;

And here is a picture of Mummysaurus “smiling”;

2. Jude watches him some wrasslin, here is Jude watching some wrasslin, with his Daddy;

3. Jude loves him a moustache, and here in this picture, you can see him admiring my own moustache;

4 Lastly, me and Jude both rock “wifebeaters”, as a warning to Mummysaurus, if she steps out of line;

I jest about Mummysaurus stepping out of line, in reality it’s more likely that I’d be the one beaten if I stepped out of line. Please don’t hurt me, Mummysaurus.

Case for: Mummysaurus (AKA, Mother, @SCARYleigh, “Grumpy” and “Smelly” also accepted)

1. This is where things take a turn for the worst for me, as Mummysaurus is a woman. As a woman, she has medical need for certain things, one of which being chocolate. I’m not a big chocolate eater, however, Jude has managed to eat chocolate not unlike his mother, if not a bit less messy;

2. I’m generally quite a placid person, however Mummysaurus is known to have her, shall we say, less happy moments. Jude also has his moments, as a baby, and here he is pictured shouting for no fathomable reason;

3. I am not known for having any affinity for fluffy inanimate objects, however both Mummysaurus and Jude love em. Pictures Below;

4. Lastly, neither seem to like to smile in photos where I make funny faces;

I know its not exactly a compelling argument either way, but I hope you enjoyed this installment. Have an awesome weekend.

Guess who’s back? It’s not not me…

So, it’s been a while, and I feel it is time to jump back on the blog wagon for my own sake, and hopefuly some of you lovely people will enjoy it as well.

Although, I doubt nearly as much as Jude enjoys chocolate.

Today, on the 9th of June, 2012, I work minimum wage in a call centre for 40 hours a week, I am woken most mornings between 6 and 7.30am to look after a near 11 month year old baby, I get very little time to myself overall, and I haven’t been out drinking in the bar more than twice in 3 months.

And I couldn’t be happier.

Work is work, which I suppose isn’t really meant to be fun, but I am in a situation now where I am very comfortable in my position. I am teaching guitar in my old primary school as well, and as a result am considering doing a degree from home starting next year to possibly go into a teaching career. Anyone who has ever done a degree from home I would appreciate greatly any advice.

Jude, as I say, is 11 months in a couple of weeks, he has 4 teeth, 2 new in the last week, and is generally a very happy, fun baby. He rarely gets crabbit or grumpy, and he loves his daddy very much. We started swimming a couple of weeks ago, and he loves it. He watches mickey mouse and sesame street, and he loves it. He loves walks, he loves rolling about on the floor, and he loves pulling on my facial hair. My father, as many know, has a moustache much superior to mine, and Jude was pulling on it last week, but its got to the stage where so many babys have pulled on his moustache that he no longer has any feeling in his upper lip. I feel like I am very near to this already.

Mummysaurus is back at work after her 9 month stint in the house. It’s been different to say the least, but we’re working well through it. Although, a few times the “Find my friends” app on the iPhone had be believing she’s had enough…

Jude gets to go see his respective grandmothers for 3 days a week, and it’s not as bad as we ever thought it would be. Lots of running about but much better than a childminder.

I’ll leave this short today, but I solemnly promise that I will post
regularily again, more likely in the next week, to ensure I keep it
entertaining and not just rambling day to day. I leave you with this
image I found on Reddit, simply a genius costume.

Tell your friends.

P.s. If you haven’t read the book yet, I may be willing to provide a free e-book to a few lucky readers. If you have read it, I would love some reviews to put up here!

Prehen Woods (Photos with leia)

So I thought I’d share these photos I had taken in Prehen woods, whilst walking the lil doggy Leia. Thought they were awesome, and thought you lovely people would enjoy. So, here is another photo blog!

Also some nice scenery shots, when we get married it’ll be around this time of year so the bluebells will be in full bloom, so I’d like to get the pictures done in the Prehen Woods;

Hope you all enjoyed! There will be news coming this week regarding the blog and our lives, so stay tuned!
